RENTALS FAQ
Where is the rental shop?
The rental shop is located on lower level of the Wy’East day lodge, directly across the hall from Guest Services.
What time does the shop open?
We open 30 minutes prior to the lifts. During the winter months that is 8:30am. All rentals are due back no later than 15 minutes after the lifts stop running.
Why should I rent at Timberline and not at an off-mountain shop?
There is nothing that can match the convenience of renting at the mountain. Come in, get fitted … you’re on the snow. Don’t like the way those boots fit after a few runs? No problem, you know just where to find us so you won’t have to suffer though the rest of your day.
Can I purchase lift tickets in the rental shop?
Yes. Daily lift tickets are available in the rental shop. For season passes or other ticketing issues, visit our Mountain Services desk.
How long should I plan to spend in the rental shop?
It takes time to get you fitted in the right gear. We recommend you allow 30 minutes on most days to get through the ski and snowboard rental process. On weekends and holidays we recommend you allow at least 45 minutes. If you plan on taking a lesson, we always recommend you arrive at the resort 1 hour prior to your scheduled time.
Can I sign up for lessons in the rental shop?
No. If you plan on taking a lesson (we STRONGLY recommend this to beginners) be sure to head to the Snowsports Center prior to purchasing rentals or lift tickets. They can help you save money by purchasing your lift tickets, ski rentals and lessons together. They will also assist you in filling out your rental form and getting you through the rental process. For more information, visit our Lessons page.
Do you offer multi-day rentals?
Yes. Let your cashier know how many days you would like to rent, we offer a 25% discount on every day after the first.
Do I need a helmet?
Helmets can help prevent head injuries; we recommend them to all of our guests. We’ve teamed up with our friends at Smith to bring you helmets that are safe, stylish and warm. We think you’ll love riding in them. Helmets are available to rent for just $12.
What if I have my own skis and need to rent boots?
For your safety, we perform a function test on every binding that we fit to our boots. If you bring your own skis, the bindings need to be a brand that we are certified to work on and be a current indemnified model. We will test and adjust your bindings with our boots. Due to this being a time consuming process, it costs the same amount as our full ski, boot, and pole rental package. It is faster to rent the full package.
Do you have any gear for sale?
Our ski and board inventory is constantly evolving; We have a great selection of demo skis and snowboards that are available for sale. Please come in or call to ask about current items for sale.
Do I need a credit card and photo ID to rent?
Yes. We need to check ID and put a credit card on file for every ski and snowboard rental – even if you choose to pay with cash.
Can I rent goggles or clothing?
No. But we have a great selection of outerwear and goggles for sale in the Wy’east Store.
Why is the staff in the rental shop so happy?
Frankly, it’s tough NOT to smile when you just spent your lunch break shredding powder or when you have the ‘view from the office’ that we do. We love this place and we’re pretty sure you will too.
