EXPERIENCE THE LONGEST VERTICAL IN THE U.S.

The start of the 4,540' vertical has moved to West Palmer. It will now ski and ride more like a run with some turns and terrain change from West Palmer to Coffels Run, down Kruser and/or terrain parks to the Alpine Trail.

Enjoy! It's not a race. There are many different experiences down the 4,540". Above tree line, take in the wide-open views of the Mt. Hood summit and Cascades to the south while skiing down the unique Palmer snowfield snow. At mid-mountain tree line, enter the alpine forest with Kruser's wide runs or Spraypaint and Paintbrush terrain parks. The Alpine Trail is quiet and sheltered with old growth timber. Finish the 4,540' at Timberline's Summit Pass and reward yourself with a beer and a burger.

HOW TO ACCESS TIMBERLINE'S 4,540' VERTICAL:

  • To access the 4,540' vertical in its entirety, catch the Magic Mile Chair Lift up to the Palmer Snowcat access point to be taken to the top of Palmer. Enjoy the ride down to the Alpine Trail which ends at the bottom of Summit Pass. Take the Timberline Resort Shuttle from Summit Pass in Government Camp back up to Timberline.
  • Our resort shuttle runs from Summit Pass to Timberline 8:00am - with the last pickup at Summit Pass 4:00pm. Check the Summit Pass Shuttle cam to estimate lap times. Shuttle capacity and availability varies and is not guaranteed.
  • A Timberline lift ticket or season pass is required for access except for users passing through once. (Summit Pass lift tickets and passes are not eligible for the shuttle or 4,540' vertical access.)
  • The Alpine Trail and West Leg Road are within the Timberline permit area. These trails are not lift serviced. Please be aware there may be uphill traffic on these trails. Uphill travelers are permitted one downhill trip per day without a lift ticket or season pass. Lapping is prohibited under our rules of use agreement with the USFS.
  • The Alpine Trail and West Leg Road are patrolled and groomed. Snowboarders and skiers should be prepared to encounter grooming equipment, snowmobiles, and unmarked obstacles.
