Daily training and coaching will take place on the Palmer Snowfield at Mt. Hood’s 8500-foot elevation. Temperatures can vary from below freezing to 75 degrees F and weather can change from the typical sunny day to winter-like storms. It is important to be prepared for both.

The following is a minimum list of recommended camp gear:

• A great attitude
• Snowboard or Skis & boots/Poles
• Helmet (required)
• Complete winter outfit
• Spring/summer shells/outerwear -windproof & waterproof recommended.
• (2) pairs of gloves, one lightweight
• Water bottle, (2) pairs of gloves, one lightweight
• Casual summer wear
• Small backpack to carry items up to and from the park
• Goggles, sunglasses, and sun screen (we recommend the highest SPF, no less than 50)
• Shoes that can get wet for rafting
• Polypropylene or fleece shirt for rafting
• Toiletries
• Spending money
• Bathing suit
• Cross training/running shoes
• Rain gear

Age restrictions will be imposed beginning this summer on Freestyle and performance camps due to lift and on-hill safety issues. Some exceptions may be made for race/freestyle team kids.

Overnight camp is for ages 8 – 17. Campers are placed into bunk rooms based off of age and gender. 

Day camp is designed for ages 8+, with the addition of our new Adult Freestyle Camp for ages 18+. We do offer bunk rooms for our 18+ freestyle campers as well. 

Skiers/riders may be new to terrain park, pipe and freestyle features, or wanting to work on upper some higher level skills like spins, flips and rails. Groups are divided by skill level, and may move between coaches depending on what the group wants to work on for the day. 

Minimum skill level: Skiers must be able to turn parallel on blue terrain. Riders must be able to link turns (heel and toe) consistently on blue terrain.

The Freestyle Training Center (FTC) on Palmer. The FTC is the premier summer training center for freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Features include progressive jump lines, rails, boxes, half pipe and an airbag for practicing those hard to land tricks! Athletes and campers of all ages and levels can be found training in the FTC. 

Features are made using real snow, allowing skiers/riders to dial in tricks in an actual outdoor terrain park environment. 

The majority of camp will be spent in the FTC. The FTC is a fun, progressive learning space full of supportive friends in a welcoming environment, however, the FTC and terrain parks in general can sometimes be a bit hectic and crowded. Please be sure your child is ready for this environment prior to signing up for camp. They must be able to listen to the instruction of their coaches in order to stay safe. Please inquire with the camp office for more specifics. 

8:30 – 8:45am – Check in at the Timberline Ski & Ride School Desk Located at the Wy'East Day Lodge. You will sign in and retrieve your camp/FTC ticket daily. No tickets will be issued in advanced, you must check in each day to retrieve ticket.  If parents want to go up on-hill, they may purchase a lift ticket & FTC ticket at the Ski & Ride School Desk or Guest Services.  
9:00am – Load the Magic Mile Chairlift 

On – Hill Focus:
Day 1: Assess ability levels, organize into groups. Intro to Public Park and FTC (Freestyle Training Center), safety, and the flow of the park.
Day 2 – Day 5: Warm-up on hill, go rock the FTC!!
1:30pm – Campers begin to make their way off-hill
1:45pm – Camper pick up at the Camp Training Room 

2:00pm Afternoon Activities:
Day campers may add afternoon activities for an added fee. Afternoon activities including laser tag and hiking begin after 2:00pm each day. On rafting day, we are off-hill early to depart from the lodge at 12:30 to make it to the location (Maupin, OR) on time. Parents may join on the rafting day if they would like, but must also pay the rafting activity fee. Off-site dinner is included in all activities. Parents may pick up campers from the activity at the Huckleberry Inn located in Government Camp, OR, or Timberline Lodge at the end of the day, usually between 7:30pm and 8:45pm depending on the activity. 

We ask that any parents who go on-hill to watch their camper stay clear of coaching activities and follow the rules of the FTC.

Timberline Freestyle Camp prioritizes the safety of our campers and other Timberline guests. If any of our campers or camper parents are behaving in a way that we feel jeopardizes the safety of themselves, other campers, guests or staff, they may be asked to leave. No refunds will be given.   

Each camper must pay a non-refundable $100 deposit to register for camp and secure their spot. Full payment is due two weeks from the camp start date. If you must cancel your camp enrollment for any reason, the amount paid, less the deposit, may be refunded if the cancellation request is received outside of 72 hours from the camp start date. Any cancellation request received within 72 hours of the camp start date, or no-shows may result in the forfeiture of all camp payments.
