Timberline Summer Snow Camps offer several different camps for a variety of ages that focus on a range of skills.
We are the only camp on Mt. Hood that lodges our campers at the historic Timberline Lodge. No driving necessary to get to the chairlift.
The Camp Office and Training Room are located on the lower level of the Wy’East Day lodge, just south of the historic Timberline Lodge (walking distance). This is where pick-up and drop off for day campers will be. Tickets are issued from the Camp Office. Food is offered in the Wy’East Café, Located on the 2nd level.
Timberline Lodge is located approximately 90 minutes from the Portland International Airport. We provide transportation to and from the airport.
If your camper is traveling as an unaccompanied minor, we will meet them at the gate, and do everything we can to be sure they are safe and comfortable. We know it can be intimidating for the younger campers to be away from home!
We utilize the Chalet Bunk Rooms at Timberline Lodge for our camps. The overnight camp rate includes a shared Chalet Bunk Room. Masters Campers have the option to upgrade to a variety of private rooms for an additional fee.
Youth Performance Race Camp is designed for kids up through 17 years old to work on their alpine racing. We don’t have a minimum age for day campers, but we do require that your child be consistently making parallel turns on blue terrain.
Our typical camper is part of a race team, or is trying out for a spot on a team and looking for additional summer training, however, we welcome all youth campers who fit the minimum skill requirements.
Youth overnight camp is for ages 9 -17. Campers are placed into bunk rooms based off of age and gender. Day campers can be under 9, as long as they fit the minimum skill requirements.
Each camp rents a “lane space” on the Palmer Snow Field. These lanes are private, and only intended for the participants of the camp for which the space has been rented. Campers will do the bulk of their training in the Timberline Summer Snow Camps lane space.
The first 3 days will be focused on Slalom, with the last 2 focused on GS.
We transport campers to Government Camp daily to try out the latest equipment from a variety of demo shops including Atomic and K2!
Freestyle Camp is for skiers and snowboarders.
Overnight camp is for ages 8 – 17. Campers are placed into bunk rooms based off of age and gender.
Day camp is designed for all ages.
We do offer bunk rooms for our 18+ freestyle campers as well. Campers are placed into bunk rooms based off of age and gender. Call for more specifics! (503) 272-3341
Skiers/riders may be new to terrain park, pipe and freestyle features, or wanting to work on upper some higher level skills like spins, flips and rails. Groups are divided by skill level, and may move between coaches depending on what the group wants to work on for the day.
Minimum skill level: Skiers must be able to turn parallel on blue terrain. Riders must be able to link turns (heel and toe) consistently on blue terrain.
Master’s Camp is for Adult racers 21+ looking for the ultimate Timberline experience! Campers may choose between overnight and day camp.
Campers ages 21+ range from folks who are newer to racing to those who have raced for 25+ years!

Although not a mandatory part of camp, the week wraps up with the “Wy’East Cup,” which campers can choose to stay through the weekend and participate. If you choose to race, let the camp office know, and we can extend your room stay to continue through the weekend of the race. Campers who choose to stay will be responsible for payment of the additional night’s stay as well as discounted lift tickets for the race, and the race registration fee. Transportation to the airport will be provided on Sunday afternoon around 2 or 3pm, when the race has concluded.
Campers who do not choose to extend their stay for the race will check out Saturday morning, and will be provided transportation to the airport if needed.
Campers will primarily be training on the Palmer Snow Field. Timberline is one of the only places to ski/snowboard during the summer in the northern hemisphere. People of all ages and abilities come from all over the world to train on Mt. Hood during the summer season. It is a very special place to be!
The Freestyle Training Center (FTC) on Palmer. The FTC is the premier summer training center for freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Features include progressive jump lines, rails, boxes, half pipe and an airbag for practicing those hard to land tricks! Athletes and campers of all ages and levels can be found training in the FTC.
Features are made using real snow, allowing skiers/riders to dial in tricks in an actual outdoor terrain park environment.
The majority of camp will be spent in the FTC. The FTC is a fun, progressive learning space full of supportive friends in a welcoming environment, however, the FTC and terrain parks in general can sometimes be a bit hectic and crowded. Please be sure your child is ready for this environment prior to signing up for camp. They must be able to listen to the instruction of their coaches in order to stay safe. Please inquire with the camp office for more specifics.

We take pride in the caliber of our summer coaches and their professionalism, as well as their pride in what they do and their passion to spread their love of snow sports to others.
Our alpine race coaches are fully certified through PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America). They are experienced in Slalom and GS coaching, and come to us each summer with a wealth of knowledge to share with campers of all ages.
Our freestyle coaches are certified to teach freestyle through AASI and PSIA (American Association of Snowboard Instructors and Professional Ski instructors of America) or equivalent.
While some coaches spend their winter teaching snow sports with Timberline, many come from other parts of the Pacific Northwest, specifically to coach with us up on the Palmer Snow Field.
We make sure to pair campers up with the coach that will best fit their individual needs.
Our coaches work hard and play hard! You will often find them joining in on afternoon activities.
We know that some days the weather just isn’t going to cooperate, and the lifts may not be running. In the case of a weather day, we will do the following:
Overnight campers will be transported to a different activity, planned by the Timberline Summer Snow Camps staff. This could include going for a hike where the weather is more favorable, or spending a day doing fun stuff down in town.
Day campers will be able to join the overnight campers on the activity, or they may receive a refund for the equivalent of one day.
Each camper must pay a non-refundable $100 deposit to register for camp and secure their spot. Full payment is due two weeks from the camp start date. If you must cancel your camp enrollment for any reason, the amount paid, less the deposit, may be refunded if the cancellation request is received outside of 72 hours from the camp start date. Any cancellation request received within 72 hours of the camp start date, or no-shows may result in the forfeiture of all camp payments.
