Celebrate Timberline Lodge’s 82nd Anniversary with an intimate poetry reading around the fireplace in Timberline’s main lobby.


Kim Stafford, founding director of the Northwest Writing Institute at Lewis & Clark College, is the author of a dozen books of poetry and prose, including The Muses Among Us: Eloquent Listening and Other Pleasures of the Writer’s Craftand 100 Tricks Every Boy Can Do: How My Brother Disappeared, and his new poetry collection Wild Honey, Tough Salt(Red Hen 2019). He has taught writing in dozens of schools and community centers, and in Scotland, Italy, and Bhutan. He currently serves as Oregon’s poet laureate.

Elizabeth Woody is an American Navajo-Warm Springs-Wasco-Yakama artist, author, and educator. She is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Oregon, of Yakama Nation descent, and is “born for” the Tódích’íinii (Bitter Water clan) of the Navajo Nation. Her paternal grandfather’s clan is Mą‘ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass – Jemez clan). She received the American Book Award in 1990, and the William Stafford Memorial Award for Poetry and was a finalist for the Oregon Book Awards in 1995. Elizabeth has published three books of poetry. In March 2016, she was the first Native American to be named poet laureate of Oregon.

Christmas Tree Lighting

Each year we find a beautiful 30’ tall evergreen to adorn the Main Lobby Headhouse and kick off the holidays! Join us on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 6pm when we officially light up the tree. Afterwards continue the fun and help us decorate. We will sing carols after the lighting for anyone who wants to join in! You may also enjoy the view from the Ram’s Head Bar and Restaurant with a warm or frosty beverage. Or, continue the festive fun with dinner in the Cascade Dining Room.

There is no charge to join us for our Christmas Tree Lighting and no reservations are required. Come for the tree lighting, stay for dinner!

A wintry evening of skiing or snowboarding is such a memorable way to enjoy the last day of the year that many have made it an annual tradition. Night skiing begins at 4:00pm and continues until midnight. Dance the night away with Nobody’s Sweetheart. Warm up in the Ram’s Head Bar and watch our beautiful fireworks show at 10:00pm.
